Poised for growth, MSGPLA seeks to expand its national footprint
NEW JERSEY—MSG Personal Lines Agency (MSGPLA) announces the opening of its new Los Angeles office. As veteran insurance innovators, the firm has had a strong East Coast presence over the last decade. With this expansion, MSGPLA intends to better service high-net-worth West Coast clients who face unique challenges due to catastrophic earthquakes and wildfires.
Nichole Salzman, a new hire as Director of Sports and Entertainment, will run the Century City office. She’s spent 20 years in private-client insurance, with the last 15 years focused on UHNW individuals, athletes, and celebrities. “MSGPLA has a real vision and I’m honored to be on board,” Salzman said. “The firm is devoted to change, and breaking through existing boundaries. The custom-insurance, and risk-management, solutions we provide help our elite global clients protect the lives they’ve worked so hard to build.”
Experts at finding coverage for “the tough risks,” MSGPLA has spent years deepening carrier relationships. Clients rely on the firm to secure responsive polices for rare and unusual exposures. Those on the West Coast who require special solutions naturally include affluent athletes, entertainers, and more.
“The internet and social media have had a tremendous impact on the risk profiles of athletes and entertainers,” said Craig Barnet, CIC an MSGPLA Co-Founder and Principal. “Famous people are now targeted and vulnerable on “new” fronts that can include complicated lawsuits. Likewise, how our clients manage risk relative to injuries and accidents is another major stress. In addition, those who live either on the water, near a fault line, or close to a brush-fire zone today face uncertainty like never before. Many firms shy away from issuing policies for these locations. We move toward them,” Barnet added.
As the Atlantic hurricane season approaches its peak in the East, wildfires remain a significant threat in the West. “Consider the state of the California homeowner-insurance market,” Salzman said. “Many residents are underinsured, or have serious gaps in their coverage. There’s a real need for trail-blazing strategies, and thinking outside the box. At MSGPLA, that’s precisely what we do.”
